Last week was a week full of deliveries: most projects were scheduled to be completed before the end of the year, where most people took the sensible approach of planning being finished before christmas. The snow and resulting gridlock did hamper effectiveness marginally. Luckily using the phone we were able to be extremely effective while working remote. Given the fact that most projects required remote management anyway, people could install complete databases from their own home.
I was in a bit of trouble last week, because our internet connection failed for over a day, blocking all e-mail and access to internet libraries. I wasn't involved in implementing stuff in the hosting centers, so work could continue, but the discussions about designs becomes a lot more complicated when you don't have access to the internet.
I linked my laptop to my phone, which provided some bandwith, but recieving 3 MB Visio files through a thin line (especially of many of your neighbours are doing the same thing), is far from optimal. Thank God we made the end of the week without much further hassle...
