Sometimes you do not want to be disturbed, for example when you are in a meeting or reserved some time for working on something. Or you just want to automatically screen the calls that come in. There are some applications that help you manage those calls for you, making your phone behave much better in your social context. Since your PocketPC knows what you are supposed to be doing, it can adapt it's behaviour based on that.
There are tools that help you adapt the behaviour of a Windows Mobile device based on the time of day and the activities in your calendar:
- Mobile Secretary is a very smart, small freeware (open sourced) application that blocks unwanted callers and sends them an SMS if necessary
- Profiles for Windows Mobile, a freeware solution that provides a today plugin for convenient and quick profile selection, 9 user configurable profiles and allows setting device volume levels and ringtones for incoming calls and SMS based on time and schedule.
- PPCProfiles, a small freeware profiler allowing you to adjust volume, BT and other settings based on time of day and calendar.
- Call Firewall is a small freeware application that allows you to do automatic call screening based on your contacts or white-lists. It can even reply with an SMS.
- CommManager Pro is a very cool commercial application ($14,90): it will manage your connections (including flight mode) and sound settings based on your location.
- PocketZenPhone is a shareware ($5) application that allows you to create profiles for your PocketPC, including volume and specific sounds for events.
- No Calls, a commercial application (between $5 and $10), allowing you to blacklist callers based on categories and individuals, using different profiles. Time-activated profiles are not yet implemented.
- PhoneGate is a commercial screening application ($9.-) allowing you to whitelist and blacklist of your callers.
- Smartfilter is a commercial application ($24,99) allows you to redirect specific contacts to your voicemail based on your calendar and time of day. You do this by making profiles for every situation (like meetings during the day) and selecting contacts to be allowed/blocked.
- Magicall is a commercial ($24,95) rulebased call and SMS handler. Per phone-number you can define rules how to handle that number: redirect to voicemail, send an SMS or simply hang up on the caller.
- SPB Phone Suite, a commercial application ($19,95) that allows to to set phone profiles, reject caller groups, reject and reply with a SMS and automatic profiling
- SBSH PhoneWeaver is a commercial ($14,95) application that manages incomming messages and sound profiles based on time (specific per day), appointments and power situation.
- SMSOrganizer is a commercial application that allows you to create rules in your SMS inbox to block or flter SMS messages.
- Smartblock ($10,95), a simple but extremely effecive way of blocking incomming calls.
